Bone Art up at Galeria Vertice

Just in time for Day of the Dead Galeria Vertice presents the exposition: “Oseocidades” (Bone Art) by Zapopan-based sculptor Saul Hernandez.

Bone ArtThe 21 sculptures, each 21 centimeters tall, are one-eighth scale models of the same real skeleton in different activities — from playing golf or football, strumming the guitar or making love to surrealistic scenes. The artist says this offers us the alternative of looking at our own skeletons (our interior — our essence) in a positive light without the need to see if the person is fat or thin, black or white.

The pieces are bronze molded with the lost wax technique and bathed in silver with different patinas and jewels. They are mounted on bases of marble, onix and stainless steel. The exhibit is up through Friday, November 6.  Galeria Vertice is located at Lerdo de Tejada 2418, Col. Laffayette in Guadalajara. tel. (33)3616-0078/79. Hours are 10 a.m.  to 2 p.m.  and 4 to 7 p.m.
