As a part of their 2010 tour, the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel Choir, one of the oldest choirs in the world, will offer concerts in theatres and a number of churches across Mexico, including Mexico City, Guadalajara and Puebla. The choir began touring 10 years ago, with their first concert in Japan where they gave an unforgettable performance.
The pontifical choir, which is made up of 20 adults and 35 children, has awed music enthusiasts in all corners of the world. Together they’re considered the best of the best. They base most of their songs on the Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphonic style. However, Giuseppe Liberto, who has been the choir director since May 1997, adds new compositions every year.
The choir performs in Guadalajara on Sunday, February 14, 8 p.m. at the Auditorio Telmex (Periferico and Parres Arias, Los Belenes, Zapopan). Tickets available at the theater box office Mon. to Sat. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or from Ticketmaster at (33) 3818-3800 and www.ticketmaster.com.mx.
