The 60-plus voice Los Cantantes del Lago community choir will make a beautiful and joyful noise when they ring up the curtain on their holiday concert Monday, December 14 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, December 15 at 4 p.m. in Auditorio de la Riberas del Lago in La Floresta.
The choir is professionally directed by Timothy G. Ruff Welch and accompanied on the piano by Eleanor Stromberg. This year, the seasonal offering will include a 14-piece live orchestra, with musicians drawn from the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) and students and instructors of Centro Regional de Estudios Musicales (CREM), many from the Lakeside community. The orchestral instrumentation will include violins, violas, cellos, a double bass, trumpet, oboe, and harpsichord.
The program is really pulling out all the stoppers with several traditional favorites such as “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen,” “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” “Jingle Bells,” “Carol of the Bells,” and an audience participation with “Silent Night.” Other glorious music will include “Gesu Bambino” by Yon, Vivaldi’s “Gloria” RV 589. Soloists will include Patteye Simpson, Marian Wellman, Ted Dressie and Amaranta Santos. One carol will be “Praise to the King,” that is composed by Lakeside ‘s own Bill Vincent, who will also be the soloist for the number.
Tickets at 200 pesos each are going fast and you don’t want to miss this concert. Find them at the LCS Tickets, Etc. booth, or from any member of Los Cantantes or, if any are left, at the door.
Arrive early at the auditorium and enjoy holiday greetings from old and new friends and a toddy from the cash bar that will open one hour before curtain.
