Children’s choir debuts December 12

A newly formed children’s choir will make its public debut on Saturday, December 12 during the 5 p.m. service at Chapala’s Sanctuario de Guadalupe. The temple is located on Calle Zaragoza, one block east of the entrance to the Nuevo Chapala residential development.

The choir is made up of 50 youngsters aged from six to 13, all outfitted in the typical Indian garb traditionally worn by local children at celebrations honoring the Virgen de Guadalupe.

The singing group was recently established at the instigation of Chapala parish priest Enrique Monteon in an effort to promote family values and curb the rise of deliquency and drug abuse among local youth.

The choir’s next appearance will be at the traditional Christmas Eve Mass on December 24, 9 p.m., at the San Francisco parish church.
