VIVA la Musica! has recently granted Mexican opera singer Manuel Castillo 1,000 dollars (US), to help defray his costs in singing in the Operafestival di Roma in Italy this coming July. The festival will present “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss II, and Castillo will sing “Alfred,” one of the opera’s leading roles.
