Las Piedras Bola (the Great Stone Balls) are among the greatest natural wonders in western Mexico. They are located 66 kilometers west of Guadalajara, high in the hills between Ahualulco and Ameca. Experts have puzzled over these almost perfectly round balls (scientifically known as megaspherulites) ever since they appeared in a 1969 National Geographic article.
