Yes, Shaw Direct has a lot of Canadian content. I counted some 65 network TV stations from various Canadian cities, but Shaw also includes some 17 U.S. network feeds from Seattle, Spokane, Detroit, Buffalo and Rochester with the majority of those from Seattle and Detroit, simulcast in HD. And of course they have FOX, CNN, CNBC, BBC, you name it. You get all of the sports offered by the U.S. networks from the cities mentioned above and Shaw offers. a great NFL and Big 10 sports package, the Golf channel, and a few others. But you do not get all of the local ESPN and Fox feeds you might get in the states from your local provider
Not only do they transmit some 60 channels in HD, (my package gives me 39 HD channels), but as I write this I am able to watch the live ESPN 3D HDTV feed of the world cup soccer championship game on my HDTV. The trouble is my set is not 3D compatible so I simply see two compressed pictures on my screen, one for the left eye and the other for the right.
To learn more about what programming Shaw offers, open your web browser and enter www.shawdirect.ca. Once there, drop down toward the bottom right side of the web page and look for QUICK LINKS; then look for and left-click on “Channel lineups (classic and advanced)”. You will be transferred to another page that explains the differences. Then at the bottom right of that page, left clink on the advanced channel lineup and wait for the 2 page PDF file to download. You will be overwhelmed with all of the channels available. I counted almost 500 to include the radio stations and music channels. Check out the rest of the webpage to learn about the programming packages, and equipment available. If you have a Canadian address, get your equipment up there; it’s a lot more economical. If you don’t, you will need to contact your local satellite dealer. Although there are several good dealers in Guadalajara, the one I recommend is www.cp-electronics.com . Their web page is in both English and Spanish.
