The Regional Museum of Guadalajara will open the exhibition “Petals and Thorns” on Sunday to celebrate the City of Roses’ 468th anniversary.
Guadalajara has held this romantic moniker since the 1960s, when the governor of the time commissioned that roses of all colors be planted in the city’s sidewalks, public gardens and traffic islands. In tribute to this, art collector Dr. Jose Ainza has commissioned 140 local artists to make a series of 60cm by 35cm tablets containing designs of roses.
