La Cruz Market
Lori Wilson is one of the volunteers who spends her mornings and early afternoons at the La Cruz Handicrafts Market, which has moved from the main plaza to the Marina.
“I have no idea how many vendors there are at this time, but it’s much, much larger now that we are in our new home,” Wilson says.
With the tourist season winding down, Wilson says the market will likely remain open for only two or three more weeks, then close until November. It is open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Watch for the sign on the highway that points to the Mercado del Mar and turn there,” she advises. “That will be Calle Atun. Follow that to the end where you’ll make a left – there should be a blue poster board sign with a black arrow – and then a right into the marina. Of course, that’s if there is any parking. You may need to just grab the first spot you can find and walk on down.”
If you miss Atun, Wilson says, you can turn at the light, drive to the plaza, park, walk into the marina and then left along the malecon until you come to the market.
