Uruguayan restaurant ticks all the right boxes

Uruguay, sandwiched between Argentina and Brazil, is a tiny nation of three million people that is frequently overlooked.  As well as its aptitude for futbol (soccer), there’s one other area in which Uruguay stands tall beside its two mammoth neighbors – its cuisine. For traditional Uruguayan food (like Argentina and Brazil, there’s heavy emphasis on succulent red meat), head over to El Mate in Guadalajara’s Colonia Americana, which, with its candle-lit tables, red wine, music and carefully prepared dishes, ticks all the boxes of a quality restaurant experience.
