The cesarean section birth rate in the state of Jalisco is sky-rocketing and showing no sign of levelling out.
An astonishing 80 percent of all births in private hospitals in Jalisco are now c-sections, according to Dagoberto Garcia, president of the Jalisco Private Hospitals Association.
The c-section birth rate in public hospitals (IMSS, Secretaria de Salud, etc.) is estimated between 35 and 45 percent.
