Delivery service FedEx, the world’s largest express transportation company, has doubled the size of its bonded warehouse at Guadalajara’s International Airport and is promising quicker shipping times from the region.
“The additional space for package examination by customs brokers improves the efficiency of the customs clearance process, expediting the delivery of urgent shipments to customers,” reads the company press release. “State-of-the-art technology also speeds processing, with same-day delivery of inbound shipments and faster freight delivery.”
Shipment processing time is predicted to be cut by up to 40 percent.
The Guadalajara warehouse will serve international distribution from ten Mexican states, as well as Mexican domestic shipments.
“These substantial network expansions are also well timed,” said Michael L. Ducker, international president of FedEx Express. “As an economic recovery begins to take hold around the world, FedEx is well-positioned to connect our customers to opportunities in the global marketplace.”
Four thousand packages an hour can be sorted at the improved Guadalajara facility.
