One man and his unwanted croc

Civil Protection agents were called to remove a rather unusual Tlaquepaque resident on Wednesday: a 150 kilo crocodile named Chuy.

Salvador Venegas was gifted the crocodile ten years ago by friends who apparently thought it was a lizard. At first he let Chuy roam free indoors, but he had to move the reptile into a courtyard with a makeshift pond when it grew to two meters in length.

With Chuy consuming ten kilos of chicken a day, Venegas found he could no long afford to feed him and agreed to hand the croc over to the authorities. Chuy has now been taken to the Guadalajara Zoo, where he can be properly cared for.
