Drug wars, shootings, violence, swine flu – you name it, Mexico has not received good press in the United States lately. This, combined with warnings against travel issued by the U.S. and Canadian governments has resulted in far less south-of-the-border visits. Nevertheless, some resorts have been more affected than others.
“Spring break tourism is about 30 to 40 percent lower than in other years,” said Valery Gomez from spring-break haven, the Grand Oasis Hotel in Cancun.
