Canadian woman assaulted in Mazatlan; Expats there say port is safe

A Canadian woman was left in a coma for two days after being badly beaten at an upmarket hotel in Mazatlan, Sinaloa last weekend.

The victim, identified as Sheila Nabb from Calgary, is 37 years old. She was on vacation with husband Andrew Nabb at the five-star Hotel Riu in Mazatlan’s Punta Cerritos when the attack happened.

Having found traces of blood in the hallway of her hotel room, police suspect Nabb was assaulted in the room and then dragged to the elevator where another tourist discovered her lying in a pool of blood in the early hours of Saturday morning.
