Richard Barlow, a senior officer at the British Embassy in Mexico City, will be visiting the area at the beginning of July and is very keen to meet with British citizens living in Guadalajara.
The British Embassy dispensed with its consular representative in Guadalajara two years ago, so this will provide a good opportunity for British residents to ask him any questions they might have. Although his speciality is politics, Barlow says he will come ready to answer questions on any subject concerning British citizens, the United Kingdom and living in Mexico. This will be a good chance to clear up any doubts about the issuing of new passports. The Mexico City embassy no longer issues passports, so under the new regulations everyone must now send their applications to the United States.
Barlow will be talking to the Lakeside British Society at its monthly lunch in Ajijic on Saturday, July 3 before returning to Guadalajara. Steve Southern will open his Brasserie Restaurant for drinks only between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 3. This will be an informal social gathering and Barlow is hoping to talk to as many British citizens and their spouses as he can. Of course, non-British friends are also invited.
Brasserie is located at Prisciliano Sanchez 1171 (at corner of Lopez Cotilla and Moscu), Colonia Americano in Guadalajara. Telephone (33)3825-2182.
