Earl Russell Brooten died in his Chapala home on January 3, 2010. He was 67 years old.
He was born October 27, 1942 in Coeur d’Alene , Idaho , where he was raised. While residing in Idaho and Washington states, Brooten worked as a photographer, inventor and machinist. He was an avid reader, fisherman and golfer there as well. He moved to Lakeside in January of 2005 and operated Meester Gringo’s Bed and Breakfast for a short time. He was known to be a gifted craftsman in woodworking and metal milling.
He is survived by his sister Nadine LaVonne Brooten of Seattle, his daughter Sherri Brooten Holzknecht and her husband Karl of Marysville, Washington, their three children, Eric, Holly and Amy and by a great-granddaughter Grace. Brooten is also survived by his adopted daughter Sarah Lewis and her husband Darrell of Oxnard, California and their three children, J.J., Jonathon and Gabriela.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Opal Brooten of Coeur d’Alene and by a son, Ryer Brooten of Bothell, Washington.
