Born December 12, 1929, in San Francisco, California, she graduated from East Denver High School in Denver, Colorado and attended Colorado Agriculture and Mining College.
Chauncey lived her life mostly in the western United States and enjoyed a long career in the airline industry. She was the executive secretary to the presidents of Continental, Western and Alaska airlines. She was well-suited to the work because she loved to travel and explore new and varying cultures. She and her late son, William, traveled the world together and delighted in seeing the sights and meeting new people.
Chauncey retired to Mexico in 1992. She was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit Seven in Chapala and was formerly involved with St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to good music and playing tennis but travel remained her main passion.
She is survived by her loving sister Mary Ellen Murphy Howells, her brother-in-law Jack Pearlman, her niece Valerie Howells and her beloved terrier, “Tito.”
Chauncey cherished her adopted country and family of friends. Her keen intelligence, sense of humor and zest for life made her appreciated by all who knew her.
A celebration of life ceremony was held on August 13 at American Legion Post Seven in Chapala, where she will be sorely missed.
