Don't comment on Chula Vista without facts at hand

Dear Sir,

I am writing in reply to letters signed by Ronald Hudson and Paul Thain, published in last week’s edition. It is amazing how people can comment on a situation like the one in Chula Vista without stating any facts. Neither reader has obviously ever met Janet Peace, one of the most honest and dedicated people I have met in a long time. Thanks to Janet, a large group of long time residents have found the strength to take action against the abuses of the Bradley/McLeroth/Sherritt boards that have done everything in their power over the past few years to concentrate control in the hands of the board. These boards have spread lies and rumors to discredit anybody not agreeing with them. Their preferred target has been suspended board member and officer Janet Peace, a person who stood by her principles and her commitment to homeowner rights despite the sustained and viscous personal attacks and slanderous accusations made against her.

Over the past months, not one single accusation against Janet has been documented with facts.  Case in point, Mr. Hudson and our visitor from Toronto, Mr. Thain, who have obviously not taken the time to check any facts before expressing their views.

The Bradley/McLeroth supporters have plunged the Chula Vista community into chaos by flagrantly disregarding our bylaws and refusing to listen to 50 homeowners who requested a special assembly to discuss the dubious adoption of the bylaw changes in 2008.  Former board member John McLeroth, in launching legal action that suspended the newly elected board, has paralysed the Association and endangered the health and welfare of Chula Vista residents.

Both Mr. Hudson and Mr. Thain are directing their criticism to the wrong person. If anybody can save the situation in Chula Vista, it is Janet and those she represents.

By the way, we do not feel that we are living in a foreign country.  Mexico is our home and we have every right to defend ourselves against people like McLeroth and Bradley who try to poison good relations with our Mexican friends, neighbors and employees.
